About Leanna Haughian and Crafty Bones

Meet Leanna Haughian
Inspiring makers to explore stitches, colors, and textures with every project.
If there’s yarn to be wound, stitches to be tested, or textures to be explored—you can bet Leanna Haughian has a hook in hand. As the creative spirit behind Crafty Bones, she lives in Edmonton, AB, Canada, where cozy winters, three energetic boys, and plenty of handmade projects fill her days.
Crafty Bones began in 2016, shortly after the birth of her first son. What started as soft suede and sheepskin soled slippers quickly grew into something bigger. As Leanna explored more crochet, she began testing patterns for other designers and discovered a passion for the design process itself—the thrill of combining color, texture, and shape into something entirely new.
Today, Crafty Bones is home to crochet patterns that are size-inclusive, approachable, and full of personality. Leanna is drawn to bold color blocking, playful textures, and stitches that carry both timeless and modern appeal. Her patterns are more than instructions—they’re invitations for makers to learn, create, and take pride in saying, “I made this.”
And for those curious about the story behind the name, there’s meaning stitched into that too: What does Crafty Bones even mean?
Leanna’s Motto?
Crochet slows the mind and fills the heart.
